Rare historical 4th of July Bemidji Minnesota original photograph ~
first Fire Truck and driver Bill Sprague

Very rare original photograph of the first Bemidji Fire Truck and it's driver. Bill Sprague.
Note the Fire axes on the running board of the antique truck.  Would love to see the pin striping and paint job on the whole truck. Probably a model T Ford touring.

Some history below via internet;
The Bemidji daily pioneer. (Bemidji, Minn.), 15 April 1911; Marriage license given to William Sprague
and Mae Tibbitts.
The Bemidji daily pioneer., August 21, 1919; William Sprague member of the Fifty third engineers returned
to Bemidji after 15 months of service, 13 of which he spent in France.

Very good condition with slightly bumped corners. Measuring 6.75" X 4.75". Great opportunity to own a rare piece of Beltrami County Bemidji town history or genealogical document.

Fun 1920's Beach side large photograph ~
Fox Fur / Bathing Suits Coney Island?

Very cool 5 by 7" black and white original photograph showing what may be Coney Island in the background.

A woman of nice fashion with a smart stylish dress and iconic flapper hat. I really am having trouble deciding what the weather may have been as there are people in coats.....she is carrying a full fox fur, seems unusual beachwear, and the man to her left rear is donning a swimsuit.

The beach is full of garbage as if something may have just taken place. There is a number 57 behind her. I can also see what looks to be a large sign with the name Ocean on it and the letters to the right HS. Maybe someone will know this busy spot.

Very good condition with slightly bumped corners. See photos and email with any questions. Thanks for looking.

This is a wonderful piece of Scandinavian history.  I believe this to be an early School  or  Class photo. The photographer is Karl Wassberg of Bora's.

Very large cabinet measuring 13.75" by 11.25"

The men look like sailors or Sea men.  The building behind shows a large tin roof.

Clay County was named for Lieutenant Colonel Henry Clay Jr. who died during the Mexican War

Clay County’s first courthouse was a single-story structure built in Peterson in 1860.
Clay County’s current courthouse, a Beaux Arts Classical design by Kinney and Detweiler, was completed in 1901. The red brick and sandstone structure features two-story Corinthian columns and a domed square tower. The Clay County courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.

Antique Cabinet Photo 1920's Model
A and T Ford & Chevy Mechanics Garage Shop

Very nice early original photo of several men in what looks to be a Mechanics shop or garage. I'm guessing these are Model T Fords, or Chevy's because of the wooden wheels. Maybe Model A's. There looks to be a roadster in between. The guys are looking a little on the dirty side so would imagine they are the mechanics.

Photographer is out of Minneapolis Mn.

Lake Calhoun Baths 1910 Bathing wool Suits ~ Vintage original photo ~

Lake Calhoun Baths 1910 Bathing wool Suits ~ Vintage original photo ~ This is a great early original photo measuring 5 3/8  x 3 1/2 inches. This is Lake Calhoun, the largest lake in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and part of the city's Chain of Lakes. The year is most likely 1910 because of the style of suits. The woman are in a one piece suit that became the generally accepted swimsuit for women by 1910. The men were wearing woolen one and two-piece suits. Ouch! How hot would that be?

On the gent's back facing the photographer it states Calhoun Baths on his shirt. Very fun item for the collector.
Thanks for looking.

1920's Orpheum Studio, Minneapolis Theater
Original photograph of Play with costumes and stage backdrop

This is an original photograph that I have had in my collection for a long time.  This features a group of theatrical actors.  All are laughing and joking, quite a merry scene. I'm not sure what production this would have been for. Stamped in the bottom right corner, 'Orpheum Studio, Minneapolis'.

The Orpheum is a historic theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
This photo was taken during its earliest years in the first half of the twentieth century.

The words 'Eastman - Kodak   116' are printed in reverse mirror image at the right of the photo. Measures 8" x 10"

This 5" by 4" by 3" Photo album is full of great early CDV's, Miniature Daguerreotype's, tintypes and misc. photos.
Most that I can see have Lake City Minnesota photographers. John Phillips, S. B. Dilley etc.

Many photos included, some missing in pages.

There are Adults, Children, Men, Woman, Dwarfs (General Tom Thumb and Lavinia 1863), and an advertisement that originally came in the album when new. This is in nice condition for its age with minimal wear. The spine is missing but the book is intact. Gold gilt page ends. Brass locket still attached and working.
Maroon with gold gilt decorations. Would be great for Genealogy Family or Town History

See photos and email with any questions. Thanks for looking.

This original photo shows a fun peak into the early tailor shop in Bemidji Minnesota. Photograph taken by the important photographer Niels Larson Hakkerup. Famous for the Ojibwe Native American photographs and early 1900's Northern Minnesota life.

I believe the photo to be 1939 trying to make out early calendar on the wall.  This measures approx 7.25" by 9"

Early orig. cabinet photo Thanksgiving / Pilgram  / Native American play costumes 19th c Clarkfield MN

This is an original cabinet card photograph featuring what looks like a group of children reenacting the first Thanksgiving.

A boy at the far left is wearing an interesting outfit with long hair and beard.  Maybe he is supposed to be the fabled Captain John Smith.  A boy dressed as a Native American Indian is seated cross - legged on the floor wearing moccasins and headdress.  All other actors are dressed as colonists / settlers in early America.

Photographer's stamp in bottom right corner reads: E.W. Bergren
Clarkfield, Minn. Clarkfield is a city in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, United States, surrounded by Friendship Township.

1911-1914

This is a wonderful piece of Minnesota Scandinavian history. A 13.75 by 11.75" Cabinet
photograph by Carl Nordmark. Below you will find some history on him and his studio.
These eight young people are dressed to the hilt. Beautiful white dresses and large
hats while the men are in suits to charm.

Three of the woman look like they may have name plates on the dresses.

On the back of this photo is quite a bit of information plus the names of the people on the front.

This is from the late Hjalmer 'Jolly' Erickson estate in Bemidji MN. This and many others listed show young football players from the Bemidji Teachers College in Northern MN.

Hjalmer was a very important coach of the time and originally from Moorehead MN. I believe this to be c. 1950's but may be earlier.

Bemidji Normal School or Teachers College 1940s

Early 1940's original photo of Bemidji State Teacher's College and its Coach, Hjalmer 'Jolly' Erickson and team.
This is a wonderful example of sports history for the area or family if a member may be a player. No writing on the back. Not sure who the gent is to the right. Jolly is at the left with his whistle.
See many other photo's listed from the Erickson estate.

This measures 8 by 10 inch and shows some minor wear to the edges, bumped corners and wear marks above the team. Would be great framed

Bank Cashier / Teller Interior rustic antique Adirondack frame

Orig. Arts & Crafts, Adirondack styled frame holding an antique cabinet photo of a bank interior with teller and cashier windows. Employee's and very ornate wood work can be seen in the photo. Not sure where located. Told it was Iowa.

There is a Regulator clock behind the teller window with a sign that say's Matt Parrett (Parrott) and Sons. My research shows that Mathew Parrett, Iowa & Indiana was a Civil War soldier. Perhaps the same.

Note the Fidelity Insurance Co. of NY sign, looks to be reverse painted glass. Plus a Connection Fire Insurance Sign. Loaded with great items in this photo.

Great photo for history or genealogy.

One corner of frame shows broken leaf. Original back board. Photo itself without board is 5 by 7 inch. The board is approx. 8 by 10 inch
The frame is 13 by 15 inch at it's widest points

Original 5 by 7" black and white photograph of children (teen's) in a theatrical play. Looks to be small town.

Very interesting costumes but some earlier in style than others.
There is a (Black Americana) Black face actor, a Tom Sawyer type or
Country boy with long wood broom. Little Orphan Annie type, A bar made, a fighter or boxer,  and 1920's Flapper. So more than likely many plays were performed.

Excellent piece of history.

Not sure where or when as nothing is written on the back. This came from Southern Minnesota.

Original photo Football team Bemidji Normal School Hjalmer 'Jolly' Erickson Coach 1937

This is in front of what I believe to be the Bemidji MN Normal School back in 1937. Hjalmer 'Jolly' Erickson is head coach. This photo has been through the mill.

It is torn from Jolly's head to the top of the photo. It is creased and dirty. This is unfortunately the way I received it when I purchased the Erickson estate. Still a photo full of memories and Bemidji locals.

Original early football equipment and uniforms, hats, football, cleats etc. I'm guessing the young boys are water boys. All locals that some should still remember.

Large original photo is 7.75 x 9.5, and had the HAK stamp on the
back for Hakkerup Photo in Bemidji early turn of the last century.

Bemidji Minnesota Football BSU Normal School 'Hjalmer Jolly Erickson Coach' ~ Early 1930's

This is in front of what I believe to be the Bemidji MN Normal School. This is similar to another photo that I am selling and I believe the date 1932 is on the football that the center boy in the bottom row is holding. I just can't make it out.

A young Hjalmer 'Jolly' Erickson is head coach and at the left of the group.

Bemidji Normal School or Teachers College, BSU ~ Early 1930's

Wonderful early rare original 9.5" by 7.75" photograph by Hakkerup Studio in Bemidji MN

This photo is of an early Basketball team and their coach.
Hjalmer ' Jolly ' Erickson is coach and stands to the right of the top row. There is a small boy in the middle and what may be a College president to the left. Extremely ornate background showing wood fretwork around a stair case.

This is showing some discoloration mostly to the upper right of the photo. Does not hurt the display.

Light Weight Boxing match Ring ~ Original Photograph 1920s

A nice early original photograph of c. 1920 Boxing match between I believe 'light weight competition' boxers.

Really fun to see the men watching the match and the towel guys. In the background please find the sign that I can at least read " Your hands off of....." . I can't read the rest. The gent to the left has his hand in his back pocket for some reason.

Orig. Rare 'West' Baseball Team Players 1920s Uniforms College / Town Wisconsin ?

This is a very interesting original baseball photo with several players
and coaches? The uniforms state 'West' but I'm not sure about location. Was told it was near Milwaukee Wisconsin but can't verify. No information on the photo itself.

This will have to be matted and framed to hide the tear at the bottom right corner. Approx. 8 by 10

Thief River Falls, MN Vintage 1930's & 40's Service Gas Station & Tank  Truck CO-OP Assoc. Three photographs

Thief River Falls------ Consumers Cooperative Association

Rare original 5 x 7" black and white photographs. Three having to do with the TRF's Co-op Service Station, Tanker Truck and Employee's.

1. Land O'Lakes of Minnesota can be seen across the street in one photo. A light up neon sign is glowing in the falling snow. This service station looks to have been at 201 Atlantic Ave. in Thief River Falls. Early Gas Station lighting can be seen as well as two early gas pumps with globes on top. Note the old 1938 to 1939 Chevy delivery by the Land O'Lakes office. (The back says 'the late 30's')

2. Great shot of a 1947 Ford Gasoline Tanker Truck Semi in front of the Co-op Station. (1940's photo)

3. Believe their name tags read '81 Expo. These guys are 'rootin tootin' cowpokes. Both with 'toy' guns and cowboy hats. Don't have the right tool to see their names.

Good condition with slightly bumped corners and some light writing at tops in white borders. Thanks for looking. Please email with any questions prior to purchase.

Morgan Park High School in Duluth, MN ~ 1946 Original Graduation Class Alumni

This is a wonderful piece of Duluth history.  I don't believe from what I've read that the Morgan Park School exists anymore. What a shame. This 15.25" x 8" photo did not fit completely on my scanner. But all is shown in combination.

What is so very neat is that all the names of the class of 1946 appears on the back displayed by rows. Below is many names, found either on the internet or from the back.

Phyllis Dahlin - Virginia Luth -  Richard Olin - Richard Puhl - I.M. Wilks - V. Paulson - E. Jacobson - V. Ulsrud - D. Pringle - T. Gardner - D. Puhl - L. Mayberry - B. Bakaric - B. Radich - B. Borich - J. Skull - S. Orlich - B. Strom - J. Powell - H or L.Stojerich - K. Gimple - C. Kiehl - D. Grorcr - R. Hollingworth - R. Johnson - B. William Druck - B. Rastello - R. Gustafson - F. Flolksra - M. Hughes - J. Knight - J. Despot - M. Biga - D. Olson - D. Cekella - S. Mackie - E. Osterhues - J. DuBois - G. Stewart - G. Salstrand - R. Olin - D. Harkin - M. Bubalo - R. Dunsmoor - L. Jondro and more.

This is in very good condition for the age. Slightly bumped corners. Photographer signature at bottom left McKenzie 1946. Great piece for town history or genealogy.

Park Rapids Hubbard Cty Minnesota Chevrolet Dealership and Repair ~ Houghton & Smith Phillips 66 Rare Original Photo

This is a wonderful 7 by 5 inch original black and white photograph. This four men standing in the front of the dealership by a 1934 Chevrolet Master DA Special Sedan.   Fantastic scene with many killer signs of actual advertising and a gent in the background looking on.

HISTORY; Shortly after the turn of the century, Frank Houghton, a railroad engineer, came to Park Rapids to make his home and subsequently, to go into business.

Along about 1914, Mr Houghton, right, formed a partnership with M.E. Smith, the tall fellow in the doorway.  That partnership last until Mr. Houghton’s death in 1932.

The little tire vulcanizing shop grew through the years to the present imposing structure that is Smith Chevrolet dealer in Chevrolet automobiles, distributor of Phillips 66 products and automotive repair shop.

This is a rare photo and very near mint condition. Excellent find. Slightly bumped corners. Nothing written on the back.
