Details

This delightful vintage advertising piggy bank was produced as a promotional item for Farmers State Bank of Hayward, Minnesota. Made of cast metal and painted in soft cream and pink tones, the bank features a cheerful pig form with a coin slot along the back and an access door with lock on the underside. Key is on string wrapped.

The red advertising plaque on the base is marked:

"Farmers State Bank of Hayward"
 "Hayward, Minn."

Promotional banks such as this were often given by local banks to encourage children to save money, making them a nostalgic reminder of small-town America and mid-century banking traditions.

The bank retains its original painted finish with mild honest wear, paint loss, and age-related marks that add to its vintage character. It displays beautifully on a shelf, in a country store collection, advertising collection, Minnesota memorabilia collection, or alongside antique piggy banks. Neat gift idea for the person who loves Pig's or early banks.
