1900s Railroad Warehouse Fairbanks Balance Beam Floor
Scale
Item #: BNT1044 Our price: $375.00 |
Salvaged from and originally located at the turn of the century for loading and unloading in a bay at an old depot. Believed to be a complete scale–but the wood cross member board has been replaced at some point.
It would have been much thicker and more than likely harbor the Fairbanks name in decorative lettering. Believe enough of the scale is here to be functional again, but not a professional in these matters.
500 lbs is what the attractive brass arms shows and the wording Fairbanks incised on one end. Also see the large cast iron stand up plaque in the center of the board showing #11476. Assuming this to be the model number.
A fabulous industrial artifact. The scale is framed by two Doric columns composed of iron. and the brass arm and head seem to be in original condition.
Approx. Measurements: 54" Tall overall, 42" Wide by 9" (board).
Excellent for the architectural piece for your home, garage or hobby building because it's a nice size and not huge. You can connect it to a platform again as may have once been or just to the floor. Fun conversation piece for a restaurant, office or inn.
