More Information

Titled: The Castle of Maidens or “Galahad at the Castle of Maidens”
American Golden Age painter, illustrator & muralist. Born 1852 - died 1911.
The publisher is Raymond & Rissling, Inc. New York.

Romantic and beautiful scarce print, part of a series Abbey was commissioned to create for the Boston Public Library.
Believe there were 15 murals in all and they were relating to the Quest of the Holy Grail
Castle of Maidens was second in the series.

The original documents were saved and placed on the back of the prints framing when a newer framing was done in Duluth MN. See photos. This print I believe was originally published in 1931.

Approx. size of lithograph: 19.25”  tall by 48” long - Framed size: 51.5" long by 23.5" tall

Extremely rare Litho, Printed in Austria. I consider this to be in fabulous condition for its age. The piece could use a light cleaning due to storage but the frame and all, very nice. This is believed to be an out of print, early large version. Signed and dated in far right corner, hard to see date, looks like 1902.  Most of the my research is due to the extensive searching on the web and auction sites. I am not a professional but this particular piece came from a collector, dealer who passed. Hope some or all of the pic's tell the story. It's wonderful.
