Vintage Zardozi (metal bound threads or beaded thread) jewelry or keepsake trinket box. Luxurious leaf patterned design with red and green glass jewels or larger beads. This box shows 'in India' on the tag inside. At first look, I thought this may be an Iroquois beaded piece as was many items we purchased in the same estate. But it has the appearance of early zardozi artisans work on velvet.
Zardozi is an old craft, Zardozi dates back to the 12th century when the Turko-Afghan sultans introduced the craft
Measures approx. 4 by 4 by 3 inches
As found condition is very good.This is vintage and well taken care of through the years.The lid is loose but the cloth holds it in place. The piece again has been used through the years but retains it's character and is solid. A very nice piece suitable for gift giving.
