This neat early hand spun brass bucket or
pail is marked on the bottom, Hiram W Hayden, patented
December 16, 1851.
Hiram W. Hayden of Waterbury, Connecticut received the
first U.S. Patent for "Machinery for Making Brass Kettles
and Articles of Like Character from Disks of Metal".
In 1852 the patent was sold to The Waterbury Brass
Company.
This classic mid-19th century spun brass bucket has a forged
steel handle that curls at each end. The bucket is a great
decorative element, use at Christmas, or extra fun at
Halloween. Perfect for display in a kitchen, holding
dried flowers, balls of old fabric etc.
Approx. measurements are: 11.5" in diameter and it stands
about 8 inches tall without the handle.
Overall good condition with the normal anticipated dings and
patina. Minor structural damage that only adds character.
Note the old crack on the side.
