A primitive oak early drug
store barrel or keg that came from a Howard Lake
Minnesota Drug Store. Stamped on bottom. Found in an early
century building where the Pharmacy had closed.
Some history "Noyes Brothers and Cutler, importers and
wholesale druggists, moved into their new five story
building at Sixth and Sibley in 1886.
Pharmacists mixed medicines in the laboratories on their
upper floors while clerks on the ground floor filled orders
from new drug stores as far away as Montana."
This is as found condition which shows normal wear and
soiling due to age. Some surface rust on bands. For the most
part very clean. No lid. There is a small round hole at the
base where presumably there was a spigot.
This will make a wonderful decorating item especially in the
autumn season or holidays. A good decorating piece for
porch, store front, home bar or craft project.
It measures approx. 27.5" tall x 19" widest x 15.5" at the
opening
