Details
Very scarce and fun find .. a early 1900's Pittsburgh Dirigible - Zeppelin Searchlight.
Estate find, northern Minnesota. The spotlight, or searchlight is identified via it's copper plate with the maker's marks. This searchlight was used on dirigibles and zeppelins during World War I. They were crucial for navigation and spotting during nighttime operations.and is quite rare. This company is known for it's electric fans.
Patents applied for, Pittsburgh Dirigible Search Light. Mfg. by The Pittsburgh Electric Specialties Co. PA.
The light I believe was powered by an external battery. The cord was perhaps attached to the airship during it's use. The mount is present and the piece is in very good condition but for some pitting on the surface of one side more than the other. This is in great condition and may be NOS but again, found in an untidy building in need of being torn down. The lens aluminum ring, unscrews from what I believe to be a nickle plated body. The Lens is in very good condition. There is a piece in the interior that swivels.
The original bulb is present. Very neat looking in it's own right.
This measures approx. 7" long x 6.25" tall" x 3".
