Details

April Wine is a Canadian rock band formed in 1969 and based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The band enjoyed international success in the 1970s and 1980s, releasing more than 20 albums since 1971. With much research, I cannot find this shot of the members so young. Believed to be rare.

The original members were brothers David Henman on guitar and Ritchie Henman on drums. Their cousin Jim Henman joined in on bass and Myles Goodwyn completed the sound on lead vocals and guitar. The band quickly realized that Halifax did not provide immediate opportunities to play and record, so the band sent a demo tape to Aquarius Records. I'm not sure who all the members here are, sadly, I think one of them may be their bassist Steve Lang who died at the age of 67. Also, again sadly, a prior bassist and vocalist, Jim Clench, from Montreal who played with April Wine and Bachman Turner Overdrive, passed away at 61 in 2010.

Labels Aquarius, MCA, Capitol.

Believed to be 1978 photograph. The band's seventh album, First Glance, had an immediate impact and the first two singles were both successful on Canadian radio.  After the release of First Glance, bands such as Rush, Journey, and Styx all requested for April Wine to open their shows in the United States

Very nice condition, a slight bend at the top due to the way it was stored in a box. Light soiling to back, believed to be very nice. Front is almost spotless other than a very light smudge to the right edge. The photo is on Kodak paper.

Please see photos as they are important to the description. Email with any questions prior to purchase. Thanks for browsing!
