A great find ... A film. Please see the photos that I hope give indication of the great condition and pictures on the film. I am trying to make out who the person in the film is, celebrity or other, States it as a National Screen Service Trailer.
Also the white tape says My Academy Portfolio.
Rare 1962 original complete collection of 67 beautifully detailed portraits of each of the male and female movie star Academy Awards Oscar winner from 1928 - 1961 by the famous Hollywood artist, Nicholas Volpe.
Nicholas A. Volpe (1911 – 1992). He won a lifetime commission from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to create his Oscar portraits.
Each 8" x 10 1/2" charcoal portrait is signed in the plate by the artist and dated 1962.
Whenever an actor or actress altered their identity in characterization, Volpe decided to draw a double portrait - as the players really looked and as they appeared in characterization. This was purchased from a long ago closed movie theater in Northern MN.
This portfolio of portraits is housed in a white cardboard case with black lettering and black, white and gold illustrations.
.
A 1962 copyright date and original $3 price tag are printed right on the outer folder which announces "for the first time ... A Complete Portrait Collection of Academy Award Winners - Best Actor Award and Best Actress Award, Suitable for Framing." Indeed they are.
Collection: The Beverly Hills Brown Derby, California. The sleeve itself shows some moderate wear and spotting, as does the film box. See photos.
These portraits are ready and suitable for framing. All portraits are in near mint condition, no folds, tears or stains. Please see and enlarge photos and email with any questions prior to purchase. Thanks
