Some fun history:

Gonvick has been in operation since 1900. The city was named for Martin O. Gonvick, a pioneer settler and native of Norway.

Gonvick High School has an interesting history. Originally, it was an independent high school in Gonvick, Minnesota. However, in 1992, it merged with Clearbrook High School to form the Clearbrook-Gonvick School District. Initially, elementary students attended school in Gonvick, while high school students went to Clearbrook. Perhaps Gonvick's most famous native is Ed Widseth, an All-American tackle for the University of Minnesota and a three-time national champion from 1934 to 1936, who went on to play for the New York Giants and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Elisabeth "Betty" Masoner (May 22, 1927-November 6, 2017), was a teacher and music program director for the Gonvick High School for a time. She was the band director during the period this record was produced. While her one true love and interest was in the military as a collector and historian due to her fathers being in WWI, she was a fabulous teacher throughout her life. She made a dent in many students lives. As for her career in music, she personally knew, worked with, and stopped with past Directors, Dr. Maurice Callahan, Dr. Edgar Gangware, and Dr. Ted Thorson; and music composers/directors such as Frank Simon (1st cornetist and Asst. Director to John Phillip Sousa), Glen Cliff Banum, Paul Yoder, Vaclav Nelhybel, Frank Piersol, Alfred Reed, Lt. Col. Arnald Gabriel, and William Ludwig (originator of Ludwig Drums), to mention a few. She herself was a percussionist
