Scarce set of trade cards for the Bookstore interest. Harvey Houghton, Colton and Whelpley Stationers in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Beautiful black backgrounds with floral designs, dark attractive reds and greens.These cards have been stored away from an estate purchase years ago. They are beautiful but do show their age. Scarce to say the least.

Found in the book History of La Crosse County on page 497 .... Books, Papers, etc. Colton & Whelpley, A.F. Kennedy for the year 1881.

The back of each card reads:

Both cards show a soft penciling of someone's name and some doodling. Some soiling and natural toning. Rounded corners. The fronts are brilliant but again, show their age. This is a fun item for the person who loves vintage ephemera or books.
