Hard to find beautiful piece of furniture that is solid, sturdy, and finely crafted.
An American railroad paymaster desk from the 19th century, Civil war era. Made from pine with three individual lift top writing surfaces with large storage deep storage areas beneath.
The door's open up and the tops are inset. We have one door off but it is in fine shape, needed to find what was causing it to stick a little....guess if I were this old I would stick too.
Seven dovetail drawers, plus several envelope and paper sorting stations. Strong sturdy tapered legs. Believed to be handmade but can't find a maker's mark. Absolutely beautiful piece.
Overall height 78.5", Cornice to cornice width 62", depth 31.5.
Writing surface 19.25" by 58.5"
Knee hold clearance is 25.25" wide by 33.5" tall.
This offers plenty of storage for your fine linens, office supplies, private study. It makes a powerful statement.
Great vintage condition overall with only the slightest moderate wear to finish for all it's years. A fabulous conversation piece in any room or office.
