Adirondack Styled Bentwood Twig Rocking Chair w/ Old
Salmon Paint
Item #: BNT866 Our price: $265.00 |
A very nice solid early bentwood willow rocker in classic Adirondack form, circa late 19th or very early 20th century. Great old dry salmon paint. This is surprisingly comfortable with a solid slatted seat and sturdy construction.
Neat piece for a lakeside porch or cabin setting. Three rounded bent twig cathedral shaped back. Actual bentwood rockers like these are getting very hard to find. It appears the rockers early on had a piece of wood attached to the worn down rocker before it, but if I'm mistaken then this is how they were made originally. Not sure. See photos, specially last one.
Passed down in a family for years and they put green felt on the bottom of the rockers to protect their floor. Can be removed or left. Found in a century estate with many other wonderful folk art pieces. Wear consistent with age on this pretty piece. Approx. Dimensions: height 41" x width 22" x depth 33.5". Seat is approx. 16" deep.
