Purchased years ago by a woman who has
passed now, from her private Native American collection.
Very interesting child's play doll with yarn hair and cloth
scarf.
This measures approx. 11 inches and is believed to be made
in the Southwestern parts. Her face is all leather and it
appears to have no hands.
Believed to be soft dyed buckskin, leather that encompasses
her clothing and leggings. Her eyes are little black beads
or buttons. Her nose is a raised piece of the stitched
leather
She is wearing a traditional dress with fringes and a fully
beaded necklace, and around neck. Beaded mouth as well.
There is yarn framing her face which I believe is to be her
hair and a black cloth behind. I could be mistaken and that
may be her hair. A little
disheveled due to being played with.
These type dolls were sold in Northern Arizona in the early
1940 and 50s. She's a unique doll, and in good condition for
the age.
