Signature: S. L. Carney (Sylvia L. Carney)
Excellent oil on board that has a mosaic, impressionist feel. It is one of three by the same artist and all acquired in the same estate.
These came from an art collector in the upper mid-west who many of their purchases were aspiring artists and/or students. They traveled much throughout their 'hunts'.
This is dated by the signature '76. The signature is artistic in itself but can't locate any information on other works. Shame as they are quite good.
One of the piece's is signed on the back Sylvia L. Carney. I find the name in North Dakota, Iowa and Idaho...alas, no artwork.
This is I believe a portrait of a Moroccan woman in ethnic jewelry and scarf. A wonderful impasto work.
These were stored haphazardly before we got to them so there are a few spots of discoloration. This shows a light spot at the outer edge of her scarf which I believe would be able to be cleaned and removed.
Most soiling are light surface and again believe a good cleaning would do wonders.
