Item #: BNT3220 Our price: $45.00 |
Original photograph of five Army doctors, in Panama during WWII. Likely gathered at an officers club. All casual and some drinking. Wearing U.S. Army 'Class B' Tropical Khaki Service Uniforms. Names written on the back with date of Oct. 1942. On the back is a handwritten inscription dated October 1942, originating from Panama during the height of World War II. The photo identifies the Doctors as Forte, Chatfield Condry, Harrison, and Compson.
Dr. Forte: Likely Joseph Forte or Louis Forte. Forte appears in several U.S. Army Medical Corps registers.
Dr. Chatfield: there was a Dr. Raymond Chatfield who served in the Army Medical Corps during WWII
Dr. Condry or Dr. Raphael Condry.
Dr. Harrison: context of Panama 1942, several Mjor or Captain Harrisons assigned to the "Mobile Force" or the Panama Canal Dept. medical units.
Dr. Compson: matches Dr. James E Compson, who was a medical officer in the 1940s.
(I had AI analyze the signatures and help with identification)
Excellent to have a complete 'provenance package' that links the names, date and faces of the men. They would have been stationed at one of the major military hospitals in the Canal Zone, such as Gorgas Hospital, or Corozal Hospital.
Measures approx. 5 by 7 inches.
