RPPC WWII - Aviation Airplane Pilot Plane; Carl Julius
Zobel
Item #: BNT2046 Our price: $23.50 |
Great real photo postcard of a piloted airplane, World War II era. On the back of the card the pilot? and writer mentions the AT-17 plane, not the one on the front of the plane. Situated over what looks to be fields and land, beautiful cloud formations behind the plane. Note the pilot appears to be looking at the cameraman. I believe the tail numbers or serial numbers are what is referred to at the rear. R253.
Someone with more knowledge can identify the plane, location or era through these numbers.
It is approximately 3 1/2"W X 5 1/2"L. 3/4's of the card is the photo.
Postmarked Lemoore, Calif. 1943 November.
Sent by NC Donald Yolton Class 44B (1917 - 1982 La Crosse Wisc. - La Crescent, Minnesota) and sent to Pfc. Carl Zobel of Yuma AZ.
(Sgt Carl Julius Zobel - 1920 Minneapolis MN - Germany 1944)
Sadly, it appears he didn't make it home. The above information is my belief and research on the sender and addressee. I'm hoping this info. is helpful historically and for genealogy purposes. Please view all pictures and read description. Let me know if you have any questions.
