I don't have much information on this real photo postcard, so trying to research myself. This is what I found.....

CGW 2-6-0 #140 & CGW 4-4-0 #37 Head-on Collision Spring Valley Minnesota

"Quite a sight to see two steam engines in a head-on collision. Involved were Chicago Great Western 2-6-0 #140 and Chicago Great Western 4-4-0 #37. I could not find any info on the actual accident. CGW #140 specs - Cooke, 11/1888, nee-Chicago, St Paul & Kansas City - No photographer was listed for the photo."  Via www.rrpicturearchives

I realize this says 1888...and information makes me believe the C.G.W. formed in 1890s, so will leave the professionals to find the details.

This measures approx. 5.5 by 3.5 inches

Very good condition with slightly bumped corners. Some remnants of an old album upper left corner. Un-used and divided back.
