More Information

A very pretty arts and crafts style vase, unknown maker.

The vase shows a rich and deep matte mauve glaze and an attractive shape. The glaze is uniform throughout. The vase has substantial weighty feel and in beautiful condition.

This would be a perfect addition in the arts and crafts decorating scheme. I believe these matte glazes were made to compete with Roseville, Rookwood, Weller, Van Briggle and many other pottery companies back in the day. It's the bottom mark that has me stumped. It shows a fail silhouette of an Indian head. I'm not familiar with this mark and hoping someone may lend a hand.

Approx. measurements: 6.75" T by 4" at its widest by 3" at the mouth.

Again, the vase is considered to be in very good condition as there are no cracks, or chips that I can see. The only issues is a glaze crackle or crazing spider-ed throughout. Hard to see unless really looking. Note last photo.  This vase shows an Indian silhouetted on a  sandy colored bottom.

This is a wonderful form and would look just fine in any early matte art pottery collection. Believed to be made in the early 1900's, Circa 1910-1920.
