Hand‑thrown studio pottery vase with a subtly squared body and flared rim. The surface features a layered iron‑oxide glaze in mottled brown and slate gray tones, accented by an abstract slip design on the front. The form and finish evoke mid‑century modern sensibilities, balancing rustic texture with refined proportion. The base is unglazed, showing a coarse, sandy stoneware body.
The squared‑off body and iron‑oxide glaze are reminiscent of Minnesota or Wisconsin studio work, sometimes linked to potters influenced by Warren MacKenzie or the Mingei tradition. Perhaps an early Northern Clay Center potters piece.
