1940's Rare Sheaffer Pen Company's V-Mail canister un-opened! Great Display WWII

Un-opened tube of V-Mail. Excellent condition, 9" tall by 3" wide. Fun find for the Military buff or Novelty ephemera collector.

WWII US V-mail Stationary Tube....Some history below;

Staying in touch with family and friends stationed overseas was just as important in World War II as it is in current military undertakings. Fast, free, and difficult for the enemy to intercept, victory mail (or "V-Mail"). "V-Mail" when adopted by the United States, the Airgraph Service was first developed by the British Post Office in response to the Italians closing of the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean Sea to Allied forces.

The United States adopted the Airgraph Service, renaming it "victory mail" or "V-Mail," on June 15, 1942, and it was in use until April 1, 1945. Where it had taken up to a month for standard mail delivery by ship, V-Mail delivery could take as little as twelve days or less using aircraft. Air transport also had the added benefit of minimizing the likelihood of enemy interception, although censors still insured that any potentially useful or damaging information was deleted from all messages. One final benefit was that letters could never be "lost in the mail"-with serial numbers on the forms and originals held on file, any message that was lost in transit could be reproduced and sent to the addressee.

Excellent gift idea for the Military or Ephemera collector!

RARE Vintage Advertising Country Store Cracker Biscuit Round Lid Sunshine Biscuits Loose Wiles Glass Window Cover

Very hard to find round lid with original glass door.

Early on, barrels and crates of biscuits were delivered by horse and wagon, set out in the general store and sold to the consumer by the measure. Since most of the products were dispensed in bulk, these scarce covers would allow for the clerk or consumer to open the window to obtain the amount of biscuits that would go home with them.

Joseph Loose was a member of the Nabisco’s Board of Directors, in 1902 along with his brother Jacob and John H Wiles, he liquidated his holdings in National Biscuit Company and formed the Loose-Wiles Biscuit Company in Kansas City. In 1912 Loose-Wiles opened their ‘Thousand Window” bakery on Long Island, which remained the largest bakery building in the world until 1955.

Outside of some tarnishing and wear to the metal surround...this is in wonderful condition for the age.
Measures approx. 12.25" outside diameter and glass door is 9.75".

Rare 'Want Ad' Diplomaticos Cigars Box, c. 1800's Wooden Cigar Box with Labels ~ Antique Tobacciana

I've looked high and low and cannot find this cigar box to reference. This is probably a good thing as it seems to be very hard to find.

For the age, this piece is very good. Still a lot of original labeling and paper advertising. In black lettering the box shows Diplomaticos,
The Daily Advertiser ~ Want Ad, Brings Results for 5c.

There is a label that shows two makers....Simon & Mawe Co. Lincoln Neb and Joseph Weinreich Maker. Only the guys that know this stuff
will understand......

There is a 'freshness tape' that covers some of the writings. Note the interior is clean and has the original paper labeling on the inside
of the lid. Somewhat rippled but there and still bright.

An excellent box for the collector or a perfect Christmas gift for the cigar smoker and hobbiest.

This measures approx. 8.5" Long by 4.5" Tall by 5" Deep.

1932 Burgess Battery Company Advertising 2 Cell Flashlight Sub ~ No bulb

This is a great piece of vintage advertising and for the most part might be a working flashlight in it's life again.

The outer case is a tin lithograph case telling about how good Burgess batteries are and that when you are ready to buy a real flashlight to ask your dealer to sell you a "Burgess" one. This was manufactured by The Burgess Battery Company in 1932.

The flashlight is missing it's batteries and bulb but these are easy fixes in case someone want's to use it again or not if it's just a display.  It has a slide switch on the side. Measures approx. 6" x 1 1/2".

As-found in estate purchase. Looks very clean and in nice shape.  Fun collectible.

Vintage Welcome REXALL Drugs Wooden Interior Sign , circa 1920-30's

Still featuring vibrant color and great condition for it's age. A great opportunity for collectors of vintage signs or pharmacy / drug store collections! This is a rare, interior pharmacy sign made of wood and painted. This early sign hung inside of the store and greeted customers with a "Welcome".  And this particular sign came turn of the last century store from a sleepy town in Southern Minnesota.

Some REXALL history below:

Rexall was the name of a chain of North American drugstores and store-brand products. Rexall was founded in 1902 and declined in the 1950's due to the competition of the discount chain stores. By 1977, the value of the Rexall business had deteriorated to the point that it was sold to private investors. The investors divested the company owned stores, though existing franchise retailers were able to keep the Rexall name. However, these tended to be weaker stores, and very few kept the name as time progressed. Today, Rexall is the name of over-the-counter-drugs and drugstores in Canada and health supplements in the United States.

The sign is in wonderful condition for its age. My research shows that there are many metal signs, but these wooden signs are much harder to find. The sign probably weighs in that 15 to 16 lbs without my packing. Note that this does show normal age wear to the wood on the edges and paint. The color is still strong with only slight fading with a few scratches and holes where it hung on a bracket.

Antique Marquee Pewter Blue Letters "D - R - W"  Vintage Storefront Sign Lettering . Typography . Monogram . Rustic Decor . Industrial

Large original storefront lettering, part of an old store name, bearing old pewter blue dry paint. Do you have a Doctor M or W in the house? Not sure what the name said but they did say but they did come from and old last turn of the century pharmacy drug store.

Wonderful shelf display pieces or add to a gallery wall. Would be an outstanding gift.

Please note that these letters have some age or stress cracks.  Looking at the back it appears they were painted white first or primed white before the blue. Very good condition for their age.

Height: All Approximately 18.5" Tall,
Width -- Letter D - 13.25" Wide, Letter R - 12", Letter W or M - 17.5"

Antique 1906 Tin Bucklen's Arnica Salve ~ The Best Salve in the World

This tin and product is listed in the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.

This is a really nice original container that I believe still contains salve in it. This was made from 1906 - 1908. The tin has amazing graphics! Tin is 2 1/2 inches in diameter and 3/4 inches thick. There is raised lettering on the backside.

Here is an add from 1891:

Bucklen's Arnica Salve.
